Hope this one is correct, army nos. for North Staffordshire Regiment 5038001 - 5094000 http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D7406297
CK, Great to see some of these groups. I thought I had a photo of Cairns grave, but I cannot find it. I have stood on Pagoda Hill, the location of his VC action.
Photographs of Pagoda Hill taken in March 2008. You can still see the remnants of the Japanese defensive bunkers at the very top of the hill. Another forum member recently posted about his visit to the same location this year. http://ww2talk.com/forums/topic/55253-white-city-visit-march-2014/?hl=%2Bpagoda+%2Bhill
