does anyone know where I can get information on this unit,have a silver id disk to marine engineer E Turner but have never hear of the unit -hallmarks on the tag appear to be 1917( but could be later)asthey are quite worn. Tuerner lived at the dunes, Windsor avenue Gt Yarmouth(on the back of the disk0 as is the name Win(wife?) any help gratefully received . If you think youve reda this before its also on the WW1 forums.

It is a department having the task of salvaging ships of the Royal Navy, which, obviously, was very busy during and following the two World Wars. The Department of Public Records probably has information you can access. There's not a great deal of literature available - the only book I know of is Grant's "U-Boat Hunters" (WW I) which is available from amazon.com for something less than $25.00.
