It is a department having the task of salvaging ships of the Royal Navy, which, obviously, was very busy during and following the two World Wars.

The Department of Public Records probably has information you can access. There's not a great deal of literature available - the only book I know of is Grant's "U-Boat Hunters" (WW I) which is available from amazon.com for something less than $25.00. As it is not in my library I cannot tell you much about the work.

    Regards, Gerry

    Hi

You could try the book Admiralty Salvage in Peace and War 1906-2006 by Tony Booth, Pub by Pen & Sword in 2007
