Looking for any details on 5911 Pte A Topham Lancashire Fusiliers. Someone has a set of the three usual medals (1914-15 Star, War Medal & Victory medal) but no other details other than the inscription on the Star. I am now, apparently, the military history expert at Wigan Armed Forces HQ and so I have been asked to help. I have searched for his service record and medal card and checked with CWGC but he doesn't appear anywhere. As WW1 is not my area of study I am at a loss as to where else to look. Can any one here add any information on this man at all.
    Thanks Derek

Have you looked at the rim on the other 2 medals? It should also record those details.

The Medal Index Card also shows he was entitled to a Silver War Badge, and there should be a medal roll for that too. Have a read through this guide - Soldiers - The Long, Long Trail
There will be bits on how to understand all the documents that have been found and it is a good source if other people ask.

    regards

Robert, thanks for that, most useful. So far I have only seen a photo of the medals.
