Dear All a few photos from the open day (apologies not David Bailey quality) The Spitfire came in over the trees and sure made folks jump. The stained glass window in the house is fantastic.
Cheers Clive...Looks like a good day was had by all. I love this shot, I can just she her coming round like that 70 years ago on a straffing run ! http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=28675&d=1274550369
Yes Mate funny you should say that one of the chaps there cranked up an old air raid siren as she came in. I must admit it was a pretty close display so swapped taking photos for just watching and listening.
Hello Ed it was all locked up but does look very interesting perhaps once they sort out what they are doing with the site it might be part of a tour
Shows what I know about the air war , I had to Google 'Bentely Priory' as I'd never heard of it. See learn something new all the time on here. >> The Bentley Priory Battle
Doesn't mention Anti Aircraft Command that was based there... hmm General Pile would be a bit miffed as he worked very closely with Dowding at the Priory !

When you see it in the flesh it is (as you know a huge house) perched circa 500 feet above sea level with fantastic views over the north/west part of London.I am suprised it wasnt more of a target bearing in mind some of the random civilian casualties/buildings hit sited locally to the big house. I have pasted a few links that might be of interest. I would add that seeing it had such a major part in World War 2 on the whole it is slightly understated in the wider media.
