I've never been to a German War Cemetery, but feel I should sometime. Where is the nearest one to the Dunkirk area?

Nearest WW2 German cemetery is actually Bourdon (next nearest is either Beauvais or Lommel). Nearest WW1 Soldatenfriedhof is at Zuydcoote (with the next nearest being at Calais, Vladslo, Hooglede, Langemarck,Menen, Halluin and Bousbecque (not counting the old naval ehrenfriedhof at Zeebrugge which is in the care of the CWGC))

Are there any well known (if thats the right word) German casualties in there Dave?

(I'm presuming here that you mean Bourdon?)...None that the VDK make a big deal advertising!;) Basically though, think of a German who was killed in that area of France (Belgian border to Dieppe) and chances are he's in there. (though, if he's SS, then look for his equivalent army rank - 'Political' ranks are supposed to be forbidden on headstones outside of Germany...not always the case though). I think that if you look ,though, you'll find one or two Knights Cross holders
