Hi all, I have this medical card for a Crewe man who served in the Home Guard. He worked in Rolls Royce on aero engine production, so I take it he would be exempt from the Armed Services. Any idea what his medical letters mean please?? Mark

The grade is "I (one)" they tend to write the number as a word after to confirm (and probably stop it being messed with)

Hi AB64 so does I mean he was fit for overseas duty??

I'm not sure - I think the medical grade at this point was different from the later military medical Grading (A1 etc), I think 1 is the highest of gradings so probably a good sign that if he had gone into the forces he would have been at the upper end of their categorisation and probably considered fit to fight
