    Hi There,

After finding and being informed of Neale family members that served in WW2 after WW2, I was just wondering if anyone can help with this request:

My Grandfather was in the RAF. M.O. Neale

I have been informed that two of his brothers might have also served in the RAF.

I dont know their service numbers and as I never knew them I dont really know where to start looking.

    Their names were:

Walter William Neale, born in 1907 and died in 1999.

Dennis Francis Neale, born in 1911, I am sad to say that I dont know if he his still alive or if he has moved on :poppy: I guess due to his date of birth he may well have moved on!

I know both had sons, but again I have no idea where they are... and due to this being "post WW2" I guess it is not a topic for this forum.

Can anyone help or inform me of where to go or what to do next please.

    Thank you in advance.

    Chris Neale.

If you can get proof of death (A picture of Death Cert or Grave) and next of kin authority I would apply for their service records. The second chap you might be able to find on the national census.

    Cheers

    Hi Chris
Google Public Records Office (pro). Then look at Census pages with their names, or search the Ancesters website. It helps if you know likely locations.

    :poppy:Hi

Unfortunately they are only up to 1901 on the free access census details although you can pay to view the 1911.... They havent yet put 1921 onwards yet which doesnt help you to track people. You could also try free bmd to see if your second relation is still alive. You can search for free on ancestry but cant view unless you pay. Find my past do a 30 day free trial if you are careful not to go over the time........
If they had sons or daughters who are alive they only would be able to access their RAF records but if you are nearest living person you can get a from Service records to apply for it. It takes about 6 weeks to arrive and costs £30 but is apparently generally worth both!
If they were aircrew and survived it might be worth a punt in the online London Gazette archive (though put in all sorts of variations to get your references) as they may have been awarded medals or been commissioned...... Flight Global sometimes has bits aswell and there is so much more you can research on there once you know a bit more.
Good luck with your search because Neale is not an uncommon name so you may have to wade through eons of information to get what you want.

Try checking the G.R.O for deaths. Modern References also have the date of Birth so a process of Elimanation may be required.Quickest way to do this would i assume be on Ancestry which will be free in most Librarys unless some kind sole does it for you.
