    Hi,
I am researching a Royal marine who was captured in 1940/41, he is confirmed as a POW, any ideas as to how I can find out where and when he was captured? Army records are pretty good but I don't know about the RN/RM?

Any help or pointers would be appreciated,
    Cheers,
    Rick

    Hello,

EX5651 Mne George V Hoddis was in the bag by 9 December 1941 according to his letters home

From this defunct website: Royal Marines Historical Time Line 1900's

But nowhere in the time frame (October 1939 - November 1941) are any POWs losses mentioned. I also didn't find anything to say he has passed away. Born Richmond, Surrey 1920.

    Regards,

    Dave

    Thanks Dave,
I am assuming he may have been captured whilst on board a RN vessel, possibly Narvik, France or Dunkirk? Probably very difficult to pinpoint without his papers,
    cheers,
    Rick
