Ruins of Fannie Bay Anti-Aircraft Site, part of the air defences of Darwin during the Second World War. Commenced in September 1941, this site was partly constructed by a section of the 2/4th Pioneer Battalion AF and the four 3.7" guns installed by the 14th Heavy Anti-Aircraft battery (HAA Bty) personnel. The was also part of the east point gold course and its northerly location made it one of the first units to engage the enemy during the frequent air raids.

    Thanks for sharing the videos.

There is a similar looking pedestal mounting for an anti-aircraft gun not far from me on the Hawkesbury River. The coastal defences pop up regularly on the coastline.

Any chance you can do a video of the remains of the RAAF base at Groote Eylandt at some stage?

Thats interesting. Show up to that today and it just looks like a feature for a lookout. If I ever get out to Groote I will do a video.
