    Hi Tracy and welcome,
    Here is his WW2 medal file which can be downloaded for £3.50 - BT 395/1/61176

    He stared his service in the Merchant Navy as a galley boy in 1920 and continued to serve until his death on FLORIAN in 1941.

    Hi to everybody who has taken the time to share these wonderful things about my Great Grandfather, I cannot thank you enough.
    It is the very first photo I have ever seen of him and cannot wait to show other members of my family.
    The Markwell side of my family is a bit of an enigma as when we try to research Markwell there is not a lot of imformation out there.
    I look forward to looking further into this page and finding out more about the Florian and of those poor souls that also lost their lives along side Edward.
