Whilst wandering around the Interent today, and various book sellers, I found the above was published/released on 1st January 2009 and wondered if anyone had bought/read it.
It would appear to be about the 156th Battalion Parachute Regiment, from Delhi (where it was formed) to Arnhem (where it was virtually wiped out and not reformed) as in the title!:D

If anyone has bought/borrowed/read it whats it like please?

    Regards

    Andy

    Andy,

Regret to say whilst it is meant to be close I haven't actually heard from Mr O'Reilly that it is out.....I suspect wishful thinking on some internet bookdealers sites.....

    Paul,
Of course I will...last time I spoke with John properly it was in Holland last September and I offered to sell his book round my 'groovy gang' - we did talk of some sort of discount for a bulk buy.....I'll try and get hold of him next week but he can be difficult to speak to!

BTW just taken a break from doing the index for SB.....3 pages of 36 done just another 8 to do before Monday morning...book off to hte printers on Monday/Tuesday...this post has briefly restored my sanity.....so now back to shovelling......

Hot off the press after speaking with Mr O'R today.....still at the proof reading stage....estimated time of publication April......I've seen a few of and helped with some of the previous drafts and I think it will be a good book but not cheap......

So I wouldn't order off the internet just yet......

Lieutenant St Aubyn’s escort from C Company – with Private Dugdale, far left and Lance Corporal Rosenberg at the back of the group, holding a pistol. The picture was taken by Sergeant Mike Lewis, Army Film Unit, in one of the Hartenstein’s roofless service buildings, originally the Orangery and situated close to 4th Brigade’s HQ. A party of the 4th Para. Squadron commanded by Captain Brown witnessed the picture being taken, mid-morning Friday 22nd September. Brown said: “My Sappers gave them a few boos and cat calls as an indication of their disapproval.”
THE above is not correct the front far left in the picture is John "jack" Burns b.1923 Birkenhead most of the above is incorrect my eldest sister has wrote to the publishers to remove/amend and apologise. WE are tired of correcting his name ,but the above is pathetic , any one wishing to contact me can via email or my home No -number removed-

Pete can you post the picture, as I don't have the book, and will not buy it anyway, as I found in not worth it buying it, although I have an idea which photograph is mentioned it will probably the KLEIN HARTENSTEIN HOTEL, and it is certain not a "action"photograph, but a staged one

Hi phil my dad said the picture was staged my dad is the one at the front from left to right he is the first its mainly his name' As for what brown said"My Sappers gave them a few boos and cat calls as an indication of their disapproval" my eldest sister finds this wrong and offensive. I would ask members to use their language carefully. Using words like "insult" is unhelpful here, as I have a copy of the book in question and it is quite clear no disrespect is intended for anyone. The author must have drawn this information from somewhere?
