Hello PLEASE can anyone help as i am trying to trace any Imformation on Flying Officer W.E. Tubb. of 500sq he was also a course at Biggin Hill with 615 (County of Surrey)The reason being im trying to piece together any imformation i can as i have a board of Meteor jet relics, that came with a small card that states this imfo, any help would be appreciated.
500 sq flew meteor F.3 and flew from RAF West Malling 615 (County of Surrey) Squadron was a unit of the British Auxiliary Air Force and later the Royal Auxiliary Air Force between 1937 and 1957.
Thanks for quick reply as ever, on the card that came with the relic board it describes F/O Tubb as being a Course at Biggin Hill, have you any idea what a course would be.
Course could mean he taught there, also could it mean hunting, and he was the hunted when they did tactical training?
Great possibility on both accounts, hope this will come out on future researches, as i feel this will be on going, as been trying on and off for 5 months, still cant seem to get any information on P/O Tubb himself.
What about going to the RAF museum in London they have a research centre there Department of Research & Information Services regards Keith
Its a must to get there one day, will keep trying all avenues first thanks for advice will loook into it at some point Regards Brad
William Eric Tubb Service Number 180390 If his rank is listed as F/O as in your first post rather than P/O in the 5th post then the date is either after 21st July 1945 when he was war substansive or after 12th June 1948 when he mad the rank post war. Ross
Fantastic Ross your correct sorry my mistake he is down as a Flying Officer, would you have any other information about F/O Tubb IE when he crashed his Meteor and where, Regards Brad.
You could try putting the two words Tubb Meteor into google Meteor Mk.4 (VT102) crash, Knockholt, April 1951 Ross
THANKS ROSS, just found a link telling me aircraft and serial number, also time of crash it happened at Knockholt in Kent during pilot training,(as Kbak had earlier suggested in an earlier Post) will research more and post back my findings, always a relief to find the history behind a relic board,as these items should NEVER be lost IE history, thanks to the help on this forum another mystery has been solved. Regards Brad.
