Would you by any chance be able to share any photos from the book, showing officers and/or men during 1939-1940 ?

    Any help appreciated!

If at all possible, I would be most grateful if you could share any photos from the book showing officers and/or men during 1939-1940 ?

Any such photos are potentially of interest and would be appreciated!

I just pulled out the book now and will see what pictures are there for 1939-40.

There are only three pictures from the 1939-41 period in the volume. Here they are:

Is there any indication of which company the following gents served with, on mobilisation or shortly thereafter?

    • 2nd Lieutenant A.G. Kenneth
    • 2nd Lieutenant J.D. Stewart
    • 2nd Lieutenant T.C.E. Campbell-Preston
I think they were all with the same rifle company, but do not know which one.

They all appear in the officer appendix. Unfortunately, there is no master index so I need to go through the text to see if they are mentioned. I will do that later since I have to take my grandson to horseback riding now.

I have found only four pages where the officers listed above are mentioned. I have attached the pages below. It may or may not help, but each company was recruited within a certain area:

    A - Lochgilphead, mid-Argyll, and Islay
    B - Campbeltown and Kintyre
C - Oban, Ballachulish and Mull
    D - Dunoon

I am not sure if this would apply to the company officers.

Thank you very much! Can you possibly also share a scan of page 8, as it would be interesting to know who was OC 'D' Company and any other information about the composition of the battalion in 1939-1940?

Thanks again for taking the time to assist!

I will scan some further information on the organisation 1939-40 and post it.

Here is page 8 as well as two other pages. This includes the reorganisation of the Battalion after France 1940 from A-D Companies to A,B, X, and Y Companies.

Hello, sorry to pick up an old thread but I have been unable to get hold of this book in order to research my great uncle. Would you be able to shed some light on the Battalion movements around the 17th April 1943 please?

This was the date that my great uncle, George Hunter Macdonald (private), was killed in action.

    Thanks in advance,
    Alex.
