Sidetracked on another thread this looks like an interesting story. The Captain and First Lieutenant were court martialled after the war. Not only was the submarine sunk in what appears to be negligent circumstances but there seems to be a situation in the subsequent POW camp which has been referred to as 'severe insolence by naval discipline standards'. The CinC comments 'As regards the conduct of the crew in captivity I am of the opinion that the behaviour of these officers in the circumstances left much to be desired'.
