I found this mans grave in my local cemetery (see attached photos)
    casualty details here http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/2698675/

I've tried to find out more about him via the internet, but not being very good regarding Naval matters i have turned up very little.

I now understand HMS Forte was a shore based establishment, and one site i found showed he 'died of wounds' but other then that i'm struggling.

I would appreciate it if anyone can provide anymore info or point me in the right direction.

I would especially like to find out how he received his MM, or anything about the incident in which he received his fatal wounds.

    Thanks in Advance

    Cheers

    Scott

I've tried the online archives of the London Gazette, the NA (Discovery) and Ancestry and I've still not been able find anything more about him except he died at Crumpsall Hospital in Manchester, which is one of the local hospitals to where he lived.

Starting to suspect that due to his age at death being 46, it's possible he would of served in WW1 as well and may of received his award then.
