Hi. My grandfather served on the HMS Maid Marion, a Cornish lugger during the evacuation on La Rochelle in 1940. Ive just spoken to the owner who feels that there are two Maid Marion . Would anyone know of a list of ships that took part in Operation Aerial so I can check that there was only one?
    Many thanks

I think HMS Maid Marion was an almost new steam yacht.

There were two MAID MARIONs. HMS MAID MARION which was an armed yacht and the Cornish lugger MAID MARION (Association of Dunkirk Little Ships). So I expect Apollo's grandfather was on the armed yacht which was the only ship of the two that was HMS.

Thanks hugh. HMS Maid Marion is stamped on my grandfather's discharge form. I assumed it was the Maid Marion so that was agreat help. He was also a second steward and the Maid Marion seemed a bit small to have a second steward. Would you know know where I could find a photo of the ship please?
