Welcome Odd Bod, a little more info would be helpful - was he OR or Officer? Clive that search form hasn't been working for a while ... back to the old lists http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/searching-someone-military-genealogy/8564-army-number-block-allocations.html
I don't know if this helps with the original question, but here goes.......... From the London Gazette: SUPPLEMENT TO THE LONDON GAZETTE, 25 AUGUST, 1944 The undermentioned Cadets to be 2nd Lts., June 1944 - ARMY AIR CORPS. P.R. 2937655 Duncan Urquhart MACKENZIE (323014,). 3320965 Thomas Whyte McGuFFiE (3<23Oi5). 14424475 Maurice Arthur John TUGWELL (3.23017). 7014381 Leslie James Patrick MAGEE (323030). 981012 Graham WILSON (323041) Assuming it works the same as ORs being commissioned in the RAF – he was an enlisted man with service number 981012, went to Officer school (?) as a cadet and when he graduated was given a new serial number as an officer. SUPPLEMENT TO THE LONDON GAZETTE, 19 AUGUST, 1947 ARMY AIR CORPS. P.R. 2nd Lt. (War Subs. Lt.) Graham WILSON (323041) from Emerg. Commn. to be Maj., 1st May 1947.
Hello and welcome to the forum. It looks like you are getting to the bottom of your question with some great help. Regards Tom
Thank you gentlemen (I say that in the nicest sense) for all the help ...... up to now. You can see I have more questions for you. 1. There is a thought that A Capt... G. Wilson No 323041 from the 8 btn Para, did a jump course at some time. That would take my 'Galloping Major' from the 1 Para in N.Africa, Sicily, Italy, then home in 43, then to OTU and on to the 8 para on his being commissioned. Any thoughts on that ? 2. There was a Major G. Wilson mentioned as Liaison Officer from the First Airborne being with the Polish Paras at Arnham. Any thoughts please. 3. Did anyone know the 'Galloping Major' Graham Wilson, when he was with the 12 (TA) Battalion in 1947 at Pudley, Leeds. Thanks again to you all. The Odd Bod
12 (TA) Battalion in 1947 at Pudley, Leeds. I drive pass that place on a regular basis, although its Pudsey - Its 4 Para now.
The G Wilson that was a liaison officer with the Poles at Arnhem was a Gordon Wilson, previously with the East Lancashire Regiment.
Wow !! King Arthur quick work. Yes tis the 'galloping Major' Maybe without the Donald is the names. Also the photo came from an add or mail from my wife before we got married in March. Thanks The odd bod
Dear Dave, I cant find when or where my wife posted that add with the photo of 'The Galloping Major. Could you tell me. Would like to find an odd or two that was in the 12 TA Battalion in the 47-48 period. regards Ray
I've fixed the army number search tool (sorry I broke it by trying to add some new modern numbers and didn't test it. Kind of thing that would get me shot at work!)

Maj Graham Donald Wilson When trying to trace a Major Graham Donald Wilson 12th Battalion Parachute Regiment around 1947-48, I came across the group photograph below. The man in the back row, right hand corner, may be Wilson before he was commissioned. We believe we have some information on him, but would be grateful for much more. Wilson's granddaughter never knew her granddad and would like to know of his service record. Sylvia Knight, sylvia.knight29@googlemail.com Veterans Ads
