How do I stop these irritating adverts rising-up from the bottom of my screen Every-time I click-on a thread ?
Well they help keep this forum going. Otto has to pay for it somehow. It costs alot to keep us going. Especially with all the photos on here.
Roughly.$5000/year all in, licenses, hosting etc. for here & 2F. Just under $2000 for hosting alone on here. Not stirring any pot. Not even sure I'm meant to share that. Just reinforcing Owen's comment. We play at the personal generosity of a man that pays the bills. Online ads used to generate reasonable income on sites like this, defraying a fair chunk of the hosting cost, but several years ago the webwide drip feed of revenue from them plummeted. Not particularly because of Ad-blockers, more the providers simply started paying less per click. I assume that's why so many sites' ads are now more intrusive/prominent. Whether that's counterproductive or not is another debate. I certainly avoid a lot of local news etc. pages that are just plastered with the things. Basically, it is what it is - & there's nothing to be done to change it. Had a look & yeah; more prominent ads, but not quite at the plastered stage yet. Ads marginally propping Otto's personal bank account up, or no site - probably the truth of it.
Not a hint of an advert on my screen. I am not clever enough to block them so Lesley must be right (not that I ever doubted it). Mike.
