    Hello,
I have a little update from the last couple of weeks from speaking to different family members.

So it looks like some of the records have already been collected by an aunt many years ago on behalf of my grandma before she was unwell. I think most of it was lost when she passed. But I got in contact with my aunt that had him in their family tree on anstertory website.

She did have a copy of his death certificate and a couple of other documents.

Enlisted in August 1940 Yorkshire Howard or Royal Northumberland Fusiliers????

Northumberland Fusiliers are crossed out on a lot of the forms so I know I don't know what this means?

Transferred to the Royal Armoured Corps 4th Royal tanks in September 1940

He obviously wasn't in the army before the war started, as we all thought.

So this is far more information than I had before. Ohh also the most interesting thing I learnt out was everybody including the army were unsure on his name. Many of the documents have him down as Jack Turner but many also have him down as John Turner. My mother says his name was Jack but my grandma called him John and when she was annoyed he was called ‘your father’. But I have heard this before and Jack and John were the other way around.

My aunt may also have some photos but she is unsure of locations. Hopefully she has better quality photos and also maybe him next to a tank or two he served in.

We have a list of his awarded medals but as I have already said these were part of what was /may have been stolen. As my mother and aunt still say they had no idea the medals had been collected but had been in the 1950s.

Does anybody know more information they know about the 4th tanks and their involvement during the war/ the documents I have attached.

    Currently reading 1940 – 1941
