This relates to my wife's Uncle Charles Frederick George Greenway Service Number 1107750, 80th Anti Tank Regiment , Royal Artillery. I have done some initial research and have obtained his Liberation Questionnaire and a copy of his Japanese Index Card. The information that I have obtained was that he was captured during the fall of Singapore and he was in the following Camps; Changi to June 1942 Non Pladuk to September 1942 Tamarkan [ Kwai Bridge ] to July 1943 Kanyu to November 1943 Tarsoa to April 1944 Nakom Paton to August 1945 It appears that his final camp was Prachuab Kirikhan, this was a camp to which lots of men ex Thai Burma Railway from Nakom Paton were moved. They were working on the Mergui Road. Many who had survived on the railway died here. Charles and his Regiment were sent to Gourock , North of Glasgow and embarked on the troopship RMS SCYTHIA, in addition his battery [ 272 ] were on SS Johan de Witt. Any other information would be gratefully received.
Attached is the entry on the RA Master Roll showing he left for the Thai Burma Railway OVL (Overland) on 20/6/42. You should contact the very helpful Thai Burma Railway Centre who will be able to provide more info. TBRC Online: THE THAILAND-BURMA RAILWAY CENTRE This will give you more info on the Railway and the Camps Death Railway Tim
