I would suggest you follow up the advise and obtain his service records as they are the only way to be sure of who[units] he was with, when he was with them and where he was - all the rest will be total guesswork unless you have written evidence from himself

Just had a text from family member 13 years 10th royal hussars 6 months pioneer regiment then RMP bit of a mixed bag don't make sense

 

apply for his service records as suggested otherwise you are wasting your time
Get a copy of military service records
you need date of birth and death cert
thats it
