1.Me watching my wife clearing snow off the car this morning. 2.A photo of the countryside near her place of work. 3. My oldest son went for a walk around Bath, where he lives.
We had a storm last Friday so Saturday I went snoeshowing in Toronto's High Park. We went from no snow to a fair amount.
I have just seen on the news that it will be snowing on me from this afternoon. It has actually been snowing non stop since mid day yesterday. An amber warning for heavy and continous snow comes into effect just in time for the evening rush hour. I do not care. Waitrose delivered a weeks food and drink yesterday and I have some model military vehicles to finish. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. Mike.
It snowed here at least twice last night. The sun is doing its level best to pierce the grey sky, so it's all now steadily melting. Zoomies are always more fun in the snow
Falling thick and fast in Tamworth Staffs but it shouldn't last as heavy rain is forecast this afternoon. Might delay the afternoon shopping. Very reminiscent of 2010 when we had Millie our Husky, she loved it. Its turning to slush over in Worcestershire, our friends in Devon say it has washed away in the rain and our Granddaughter in Derbyshire is just beginning to become excited. She can say Rain and now, Snow!
In the picture I posted on 19 Feb we had 9 inches of snow, we got more and finally we had 11 inches of snow late of Feb, but then the mild season came and the snow started to melt, so at the beginning of the month there was only 8 inches of snow. But then the weather turned cold again and it snowed again. Today there was about 10 inches. But the new snow was frosty snow and the weather has been windy, so the view is not as wintry as in late February or in the picture posted by Uncle Target above. During the day it was -5 C deg. and now -16 C deg.
It's been snowing non-stop since my last post but it wasn't staying on the ground until late afternoon. 2 hour power outage just ended in our area. Some folks might not be so lucky. And in the morning
Northern Ireland snow: Rare 'snow rollers' spotted in County Down It might look like someone has been out having fun in the snow, but the rare snow rollers spotted in a field in County Down are a naturally occurring phenomenon. They occur when strong winds blow across a flat, snow-covered field or hillside, according to the Royal Meteorological society (RMETS). The photos were taken in Annahilt by entomologist Adam Mantell. It came after Northern Ireland was hit with heavy snow on Thursday
We got some snowfalls yesterday and last night, not much, about an inch more, so we have again about 11 inches of snow. 1st photo yesterday late afternoon 2nd today at noon
It snowed heavily yesterday evening until little past midnight, a total of nearly four inches. Since the snow was a heavy wet snow, it somewhat compressed the earlier frosty snow, so the thickness of the snow cover increased to maybe 13.5 inches. It rained for the rest of the night and most of the day. Since it has also been windy at the same time, the snow cover is now thinning. The photo was taken little past midnight.
The snow situation has varied here, on Thursday the snow had almost disappeared, but on Saturday it started snowing again, at first lightly, but on Monday it snowed rather hard and by midday there was 4.3 inches of snow and by early evening 7.5 inches. So 1st picture was taken onThursday 2nd pictureon Monday during my morning walk 3rd on Monday at noon and the 4th Monday early evening, notice a brown hare next to the shed.
It has now snowed for the third time this fall, and since the ground is already frozen here in Southern Finland too, and according to the forecast the temperature should stay below freezing until at least the beginning of December, so now the snow should stay on the ground for at least two weeks, and more should come, especially next Thursday. Now there is only 1 - 1.2 cm (0.4 - 0.5 in) of snow.
No snow at Arnhem (far from that), instead high water levels on the Rhine. John Frostbridge with flooded quay.
The blizzard predicted for Wednesday came, but the weather also became warmer than forecast, although it snowed at first, as the night progressed the snow turned to sleet and finally to rain. The end result here was that the snow cover did not thicken even if 8 kilometers/5 miles to the north the snow cover thickened 2-3 centimeters/one inch and 6.5 km south 2 centimeters, however, there have been occasional snowfalls in the last few days, so now the snow is about 2.5 cm or an inch. The temperature has been -9 to -13 degrees C in the last few days, so the Vantaa river has frozen over.
I have snow. Overnight snow has left a covering of pure sparkling white snow. The temperature is well below freezing so there are no signs of thawing and with a clear blue sky it really is a winter wonderland. Late last evening the clear sky and low temperature revealed a myriad of stars. All pavements etc are far too treacherous for me to venture out so I am sitting in my south facing rooms enjoying the sun and the view. Mike
The day before yesterday it snowed quite nicely here too, so yesterday afternoon there was about 10-12 cm/4 to 4.7 inches of snow here. Picture from yesterday afternoon.
Keep warm Mike. I guess the heating is on ? We have had a little dusting of snow here in North Yorkshire. Lesley
Since my last posting it has been fairly cold here and it hasn't snowed much more, but last night it snowed quite a lot, now there is 22 cm /about 8.7 inches of snow. It means a lot when there is only 5 hours and 54 minutes of daylight. It would be really dark here without snow.
We got plenty of snow on 29 Dec, so on 30.12. morning there was 36 cm/14 in snow And 2 cm more on 30.12. so we had 38 cm/15 in on 31 Dec. The weather became significantly colder on 31 Dec. and the temperature dropped to -15 C deg, causing the terrace glasses to freeze up. Yesterday, -18 C deg
It has snowed quite nicely here, much snow clearing work has had to be done. The beginning of last Friday's lunchtime hobby. Our backyard on last week's Friday The beginning of yesterday morning's morning activities After a pedestrian route along our driveway and the pavement at our plot were cleared, it was time to go to breakfast before clearing the entire driveway of snow. Our backyard on yesterday morning It kept snowing, so my lunchtime hobby half done Our backyard on yesterday afternoon, we got over 20 cm/ 8 ins more snow yesterday, so now we has some 60 cm/ 23.5 ins. So some 2½ hours of snow clearing yesterday.
