    Good evening,

Wondering if anyone has copies of the above Battalions war diaries for January 1940- July 1944 they would be willing to share.

My grandad was in the mortar platoon, c company.

Served in Norway, Iceland , trained at Glenfeshie Scotland, based in Kessingland then left for Normandy where he was killed in action on 25th June 1944.

    Sergeant Douglas George Lilburn Huddlestone.

Also would like to know where he would have landed in Normandy and on what day.

    Thanks in advance.

    Sonia

    Hi Sonia,

I don't currently have the 4th Linc diary but I'm currently in the process of transcribing diaries of units who fought in Normandy so if no one else has a copy I should be able to copy it on my next trip to the archives although that probably won't be for a couple of weeks

I only have the 1944 and 1945 diaries. I’m happy to send you both via Dropbox if you donate my usual fee to my son’s fundraiser.
I can create an order to copy the others for you at a later date.

I think Sonia it says "Marching party transported to NEWHAVEN and embarked on three LSIs small".

Happy to be corrected if it doesn't!

    Kind regards, always,

    Jim.
