Have been reading through my Grandad's Service Record and found he was in 175 Tunnelling Company, which was responsible for digging the saps at Hooge. I knew he was a Sapper in France in 1915 but had no idea that he was involved at Hooge.

    Steve,

Now that i've looked at the record...Hooge mine was blown in 1915.....his records appear to be for 1918...?????

Also remember that the 1915 mine crater was filled in long ago; probably back in the 50s. The craters up the road from Hooge Crater cafe are German mines from June 1916, and were blown under Canadian troops.

I put up the wrong page.

This one shows he was with 175 TC in June 1915, before the explosion.
