You are quite correct on the Brisbane search. No match.

    Thanks Dave,

I did transpose that info and forgot it.

Probably getting mixed up between Foxlee and Leggo.

Still need to get his burial details so I can organise a photo.

    Cheers

As he wasn't born in the UK, I suppose the name(s) given for the death record wouldn't have to correspond to his birth entry. I know we had a devil of a job to register a death because the surname for the birth was spelt differently (due to a broad Essex rural dialect). In this case, presumably all that was required to register the death would be some document proving identity.

    Thanks Blutto - Great info.

Just need to find where he was buried so we can get a photo of his grave/headstone.

Wonder if the son married in Scotland is still living in that area. Go Facebook methinks!

I found an address / phone number John Andrew Leggo, however, this site:

    http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/w/a/t/Rhys-Cedric-Watkins/WEBSITE-0001/UHP-1826.html

identifies a different familial association for John Andrew Leggo:

John Andrew Leggo (son of Jack Clifford Leggo and Norma Ruth Louttit). He married Janet Helen Middleton, daughter of Kenneth Middleton and Flora McPherson Watkins.

    Hi Charles,

Your blogs are full of info however I am looking for full date of death, where each of them are buried and finally a photo of their headstone or plaque. This will then mirror what is available on the CWGC. (Photo excepted - Mine will be no charge) ;)

When we are done, would it be possible to add the ground crew?
Largely forgotten, and due the honour and recognition.

    Thanks Fred.

    Hi Fred,

No reason why not if you have all the names of those concerned. There are plenty of people who can assist with the research.

Hopefully we can find the cemeteries and graves of this group first then commence the groundcrew.

    Cheers

Fair enough, Geoff. I have tried to put in the exact dates of birth and death where known. And I will pay more attention to this in the future blogs.

By the way, I can now get an exact DoD and place of burial in Cyprus for Robert Henderson, as I am in touch with his son.

I wonder whether any of the forum members in the UK or Canada check the local or mainstream newspapers for some of these veterans to see if their is a death notice for them which gives either date of death or where they are buried.

I have been finding some details on Ancestry however I have not been doing very well as I keep running into brick walls. I do not have Canada on my new Ancestry account as it is too expensive.

If you can help or have any advice on how to improve the hit rate - Please let me know.

    Cheers

    Geoff
