I am just starting the search for the service records for my uncle, an Irishman in the British Army during WW2, with the assistance of his daughter as next of kin. He died in 1991 and never spoke of his time in the War so the family don't know of what Regiment he was in or indeed his service number. All that is known is that he served in North Africa and Italy, and maybe Spain. Could someone please advise if it is worth my while posting the application form without those very important details? Thanks in anticipation.
Hello As long as you have his date of birth and add as much detail as you know you should be successful. Give them a call first Tel: 0345 600 9663 http://www.ctp.org.uk/military-disclosures-addresses link below for service record forms https://www.gov.uk/guidance/requests-for-personal-data-and-service-records regards Clive
Hi and welcome to the forum, good luck with your research. It's well worth the £30 for the records the information you get from them is fantastic. David
Thank you Clive and David. I will send off the form so. Looking forward to hopefully finding out as much info as possible!!
I recently applied for service records with only name, DOB and death certificate and received them in under a month.
