Inspired by a thread from Andy I thought I would ask Is there any reme books out there you would recommend I ready have craftsman of the army, looking to see what others there is
Craftsmen is the only one I'm aware of, I'd be interested in hearing of any others, especially North Africa related.
A two volume work called The Second World War. Army. Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. Part of the War Office series published in the immediate post war years. It was 'Restricted' at the time of publication, 1951. Mike.
A couple here: REME Museum If you can find it (but it's bound to be cheaper than a couple of those mentioned above) My Moving Tent by A A Nicol is his diary of his time with the RAOC/REME from 1940-45, the last half of which he spent in the Norfolk Yeomanry's LAD. On a more techie level, there is the HMSO book Breakdown - A History of Recovery Vehicles in the British Army by Brian Baxter, one time curator of the REME Museum. Like many of that series, it can be expensive but worth keeping your eyes open for a cheaper than average copy. And I nearly forgot: Catch That Tiger :indexCAGHJY15:
Great Suggestions, Any books or articles explaining REME over DDay? Pictures? My Grandad was attached to the 147th Essex Yeomanry.
