Hi folks, I am really pleased to have found this sight as at the moment I am trying to find out about my grand father. he served in the Royal Signals during the war, he spent some time as Gen' Alexander's disbatch rider, he I think was attached to the 1st Army in either Africa, Italy or Malta. He joined up in 39 & went all the way through, I know he met his wife while stationed in Salisburry don't know what yr thougth. I am really hopping/praying that maybe someone might be able to advise me how to go about finding info-his name was Bernard Tarrant? Thank you so much

    Welcome to the forum

You need to obtain his service record from MOD Glasgow, it will cost you £30.00 and take about 6-9 months to arrive.

In the mean time post as much information as you have and the members will assist you in your quest

    Welcome to the forum Damon.

This link should assist you to obtain you grandfather's service records: Army Personnel Centre - British Army Website

The link will guide you regarding needs and whether a fee is required. It can take up to circa 9 to 12 months to get a response, so you will have to be patient.

When you have his service records maybe post them on this thread and someone will come along to assist you with insights into his service.

In the meantime, as Oldman suggests, maybe you could post whatever you have e.g. medals, diaries, letters, pictures, any information you have about his service and forum members will assist with pertinent information!

    Best,

    Steve.
