Been discussed a fair few times elsewhere, but I stand by my suggestion that his batman or tailor made an egregious mistake on the day of his death, leading a repressed and somewhat dejected man, aware of his own failures, to endure the further humiliation of that eternal detail. His spirit contemporaries & mortal companion will never notice, but he knows. Pathos, innit.
