Many of the commandos destined for Burma a year later, cut their teeth on this raid.

I'm currently reading, 'The Commandos 1940-1946, Charles Messenger', and referring to the above raid.
    He writes,
There were too, humorous icidents which became part of Commando folklore, Lieutenant R.L. Wills sent off a telegram from the telegraph station at Stamsund.
Addressed to A. Hitler, Berlin, it read,
'You said in your last speech German troops would meet the British wherever they landed. Where are your troops. ?'
Lord Lovat, who had recently joined No 4 Commando, took a bus to a seaplane base and captured the staff. The commander afterwards complained of his unwarlike behaviour and said that he would report it to the Fuhrer.

    Graham.
