Can't call the film to mind in any detail BL, but if you're looking into British made W.W.II films, (as opposed to foreign films with British in them), I compiled a list for another site a couple of years ago complete with links to reviews.

Some of the links may no longer work as they at least two years old. The site pegged the list so if you want to take a look visit:

'Smiley' punctuation :) at the end of any film denotes a comedy.

One of my favorite British WW2 movies is It's in the Air (George Formby 1939) images/smilies/default/biggrin.gif . Some great GF songs -- including Our Sgt. Major -- when I later later became a Sgt. Major, my daughters used to sing that song to me. images/smilies/default/biggrin.gif

Nearly three weeks ago I watched the last part of a old war movie on the BBC. I found out later, it was the movie 'They were not divided'. As I am from Holland, I could not watch the movie on the BBC-site. Now I am wondering if the movie is worth it to order it from the UK. I am curious for the opinions of the forum members about this movie.

I bought this old film on Amazon and I really enjoyed it, very typical of films of the period post war, but good attention to detail with uniforms and kit in WW2 Guards and some nice Shermans if armour is your thing. The token Paddy character who ends up in the Welsh Guards instead of the Micks is enjoyable, but then I am biased on that one!!

They have used vehicles and equipment from the British Army of the Rhine.

In my opinion one of the best but almost forgotten films that reasonably accurately portrays the Guards armoured regiment in WW2.

Ive a DVD copy and ive watched it many times, picking up little things I missed each time.

Nowhere else will you see a soldier on a bike being ‘idle whilst cycling’!

See the sergeant major ‘standing on the hair’ of a young recruit.

Learn that the ‘Welsh never stop singing even when talking’

In fact you ‘will never see anything like it in all your life’!

Its defiantly worth getting hold of a copy and not just because it features my favourite armoured vehicle the Daimler Dingo.

Send me a private email with your address and I shall see what I can do, always happy to help our friends in the Nederland’s.

As you are a Dutchman I hope you have seen "Theirs is the Glory" about Arnhem, filmed shortly after the battle and 'starring' some of those who took part in the battle!

One of the best war films ever made, in my opinion. And for quote-worthyness, ranks as high as Zulu

An old 1950's film of the Welsh Guards showing their wartime experience and including RSM.Brittain himself.

This film is notable for the remarkable number of actual WWII armored vehicles that are featured, or make brief appearances, including scenes featuring a disabled German Jagdpanther and Jagdtiger.

Shown today on BBC.2 and available on BBC iplayer :-

Saw this today - a story of 4th Battalion Welsh Guards from post-Dunkirk 1940 to the Ardennes Offensive. Quite a few Normandy and Arnhem area names I know well including Tilly-sur-Seulles and Caumont, Nijmegen and Groosbeek.
As Bluebell says - remarkable collection of AFV scenes. Obviously intended as something of a 'US/UK Buddy film' although the vast majority of the action is Guards Armoured Div based.
    Well worth a look.

I recall seeing this film must be a million years ago- and the abiding memory is of RSM Brittain screaming at the young officers to get off HIS square - in near darkness.....good film !

Always reminds me of SSM Christie of the Horse Guards screaming at our troop for one man being out of step - thought he would have a heart attack -
    Cheers
