A friend mentioned to me that there was a free download for Tomtom listing all the Commonwealth War Grave Cemeteries in Europe (Apart from UK). I searched and found the said download in the Tomtom P.O.I.

I duly downloaded it and tried it out on my recent trip to Ypres and Mons. I have to say, it's definitely recommend, I was directed successfully to all cemeteries that I wanted to visit even the obscure ones (Rue-du-Bacquerot Military Cem No1, which is in the middle of a farm yard). If you have a Tomtom, get downloading!! It's Brilliant.

All thanks to Bruce for making it available and Marco for letting me know about it. Should be an absolute "right hand" for me in France.

    Next question for me:

What is the best TomTom model for me to buy and what price should I look to pay?

Look forward to some good suggestions from those who presently use them.

    Cheers

    Geoff,

Since you probably rent a car I would buy the Tomtom One. It is small enough to fit in a coat pocket and you will need to remove it every time you park or otherwise you run the risk of smashed in windows. Personally I find the screen big enough for easy use. I have seen them around for 99 euro's with an full European map.

There is one little snag with at least Tomtom (but the others probably as well): some rental cars have windscreens that have been treated with heat reflecting material which also prevents the GPS signal from reaching the device. Had that once in Spain. You then need an external antena which is a hassle.

    Regards,

    Marco

    Thanks Marco.

I expect to pay more than that 99 euros here. Have not looked around as yet.

Good to know that about the windscreens. Here we have a problem with E-Tags on Toll Roads where metallic windscreens require a special place to apply the E-Tag or it does not work.

    Cheers

Is there a link to download this tool or a web address?

I downloaded my CWGC cemeteries from TomTom. Would not have found half of those cemeteries in France without it.

    Hi Philip,

Not sure if I understand you right however you are saying it has downloaded onto your TomTom but you can't see it.

If so, try and find a cemetery close to where you are now.

    Go to Navigate to:
    City Centre
POI near city centre or destination?????????

This should bring up CWGC cemetery in Europe or UK

Click that and it should bring up cemeteries in a KM range from that central position.

Let me know how you go.

I don't have my TomTom with me so I am doing this from memory.

    Cheers

    Geoff

Used mine thui morning. Selected Navigate to, then POI (Points of Interest) then CWGC UK Cemetries. It showed me a list of those with a given radius and I picked the one I wanted. Easy peasy.:) Every Cemetery Hunter should have one.
