I am really trying hard to find a photo of William John Munday. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction please. I believe he had a daughter born around 1940. If she is still alive, I would very much like to make contact.

My thanks to anyone who can assist.

Hello. My son is doing a project for school, I was helping him with his research & this site came up.
William Munday was my grandfather. He had one son, also named William Munday. I have some photos - I’ll dig them out if you like. Regards, Kate

    Kate.

I am a battlefield guide and am regularly at the Salerno CWGC.

I have passed William Munday's headstone many times. Next time, I will stop and tip my hat.

    Regards

    Frank

Hi Frank. What a lovely message - thank you! My Dad visited Salerno about 10 years ago to see his father’s grave. I hope to visit one day too.
    Thank you, Kate

    Hi Kate,

Glad to see you came across this thread.

I do mostly RAAF and many lost their lives in action with aircrews.

Would be great to see a photo of William Munday.

    Cheers

Just a brief comment on A B Austin, his 1943 book The Birth of an Army, about the 1st Army in Tunisia in 1942-43 is, in my opinion, one of the very best books about the campaign. It's a short book but it shows some exceptional powers of description and observation and it was also written when the events were still fresh. It's a neglected classic and well worth seeking out secondhand.
