Operation Market Garden started on September 17, 1944. The Allies immediately crossed the Dutch border in Lommel and went via the corridor to Valkenswaard and Eindhoven. Below Lommel, in Kattenbos, there was another Allied tent camp that was coincidentally bombed by the Germans on the evening of September 18, 1944. What was the function of those Allies in that tent camp and why did they not go to the Netherlands in Market Garden? Does anyone know?
