In the same vein of another recent post:

    3rd Grenadier Guards, Derrick Manning

I’m always trying to save groupings from 1st Guards Brigade that sellers are intent on splitting up. I painstakingly bid on every item of this lot, including his fathers WW1 papers to keep the grouping together. This one is to a L/Cpl (later Sgt) G White. He served in 3WG in Italy and the later with 1Bn in Germany.

I’d love if someone could help with a picture and/or service number for this gentleman. Again, I’ve gone through all of the directories on here to no avail.

3WG are inevitably close to my heart being the battalion my grandfather served in. Many of the items pictured below feature in my book that’ll be published in the next 3 weeks:

    The grouping consists of:

    - His cap badge, 2 x titles, 6th Armoured Division Formation Sign, his berthing cards and an obituary to Mrs Twinnings who ran 1st Gds Bde YMCA (very much the pinup - last 2 pics from IWM)

    - address from CO Rose Price (end of the war)

    - thanksgiving service card signed by 3WG Padre Richardson (previously 1st Gds Bde padre)

    - clipping of a muleteer

    - menu card placing him in Bonn 1946 with 1st Battalion. He appears to have attended the Guards Divisional College. Also included is a pair of Guards Armoured Division Formation Signs.

I’ve then displayed all of the 3WG items from the group, keeping the rest of it together behind the frame:
