Appologies if this post breaches forum rules. My grandfather WO Ron Mogg RAFVR was held captive by the Germans for most of the war. After liberation he was repatriated and later served in Korea. He wrote a book 'The Sergeant Escapers' the forward of which was written by Airey Neave who it claims later became Ron Moggs' CO. The family are aware that he may have had some connection to the intelligence services, so the question is which? I have heard of MI-9 and in particular the Intelligence School 9. Any help and pointers in the right direction will be greatly appreciated, Jon
Post-war Neave commanded the IS9(TA) unit up until the 1960s. He briefly mentions it in his book 'Saturday at MI9'. Lee
That's brilliant Lee, thanks for that. That confirms what I thought regarding WO Moggs post war service. Are you connected to @rcre? I have noted that there are some transciptions online relating to IS9 which have been of great help. Jon
Jon, arcre.com is me. Great to hear the IS9 history has been of help. Also worth reading Neave's "Saturday at MI9" and "MI9: Escape and Evasion 1939-1945" by Jimmy Langley and M R D Foot. It would also be worth applying for you grandfather's service record from the Ministry of Defence if you haven't done so already.
Then I thank you kindly Lee for making these documents available and for the further reading material. I have dowloaded the SAR and COK forms and posted them off and eagerly await the return. Jon
