94822 Capt. Tatlock Littler Hubbard, 115 Field Regiment, Royal Artillery, 19th Indian Infantry Division, 33rd Indian Corps awarded Military Cross:

At KIN-U on 6th January 1945 Capt. HUBBARD when acting as F.O.O. engaged an LMG foxhole position north of the village which was holding up the advance of 2 Bn Royal Berkshire Regiment and destroyed it thus enabling the infantry to move forward without casualties, That same afternoon he accompanied a Company attack put in EAST of KIN-U. In the evening after a concentration of artillery fire had been put down on KIN-U crossroads area, he moved in an armoured Q.P. towards the enemy position at the crossroads while a company of 2nd Bn Royal Berkshire Regiment carried out an encircling attack on the WEST. His carrier was fired on and had grenades thrown at it. Capt. HUBBARD extricated the carrier with great coolness under close range fire and brought back information of the exact locality of the enemy post.

On 7th January he accompanied an attack of one platoon of 2nd Bn Royal Berkshire Regiment against the area of the crossroads. On meeting enemy opposition he put down effective fore enabling the infantry to move further forward. To obtain a better view Capt. HUBBARD then advanced to within 100 yards of enemy position leaving his O.P. party in safety in a nullah carrying the telephone and wire himself. Capt. HUBBARD after locating the enemy exact position prepared to engage them with fire. Suddenly found that another enemy post was within grenade range of him. Seeing enemy in it be himself attacked enemy post killing the occupants with hand grenades. He then moved to engage move of the enemy with artillery fire and was seriously wounded in both legs.

Capt. HUBBARD’s coolness, courage and initiative throughout this period was an inspiration to his O.P. party, who, by his care and skilful handling only suffered one slightly wounded casualty, in addition to himself.
