Can you photograph your local war memorial? (UK)

EYNSFORD BAPTIST CHURCH, EYNSFORD, KENT.

THIS IS A WW1 MEMORIAL, WHICH HAS 13 NAMES OF THE FALLEN FROM WW1. ON THE MAIN VILLAGE WAR MEMORIAL, THERE ARE 24 NAMES. FROM WHAT I HAVE ABLE TO FIND OUT, THIS ONLY LISTS THE NAMES OF THOSE WHO WORSHIPPED AT THAT CHURCH.

INTERESTINGLY, THERE IS A LIST OF THE MEN WHO FOUGHT, BUT RETURNED, NOT SOMETHING I'VE COME ACROSS BEFORE.

Not a war memorial per se but I thought you might like to see this and maybe add it to your Guards docs:
Kirk is, I believe, the most recent Irish Guards death in combat.
I went to his Full Military Honours funeral and the Guards did him proud. I was in pieces, bit of a lump in my throat thinking about it now.

As well as the IG band Kirk was a member of the Romford Royal British Legion Band and Corps of Drums, and that's how I knew him. I am invoved with another local band. The Legion band have a small memorial to him and his No.1 dress uniform, drumsticks etc in a glass case in their HQ. I can get photos if you would like to see them.

WW2 named commemorations are a pretty rare thing down south as you know (situation improving all the time) and here in Limerick there is only 1 IG listed on the WW2 plaque in St Mary's Cathedral Limerick - Cpl J Modler

Much obliged to you for this info - quite incredible site you have there- really amazed that there should also be a photo of this 1 chap. He only married the year before (to Thelma Holbeche in Birmingham) but no children as far as I can see.

This is the Dover Town Memorial( town centre) and the Southern Railway, formerly S.E.& C.R., memorial at the former Dover Marine Station. We had torch services when I worked there as the veterans passed through with the flame. I believe they still hold them,its now the cruise terminal. Derek

HMAS Sydney Memorial Geraldton Western Australia

Some photos taken on my recent trip to Geraldton.

November 1941 the RAN cruiser HMAS Sydney II and her men disappeared after a battle with German raider HSK Kormoran. While both ships were lost, many of the Kormoran crew survived the ordeal.

The memorial features a silver dome of 645 seagulls to represent each of the lost Sydney sailors. The wall of remembrance shows photographs of the ship and the names of the Sydney crew. To the north, a bronze statue of a woman gazes desperately out to sea as she awaits news of the ill-fated Sydney.

Nearby is the stele – a single, dramatic shape representing the bow of the ship.
