I aquired these today as a result of my Cousins, untimely death in January, my Mum, had to sort out the house and she thought I might be intrested in having them, now I realise only four appear to be WW2 period Grenadier Guards, ATS, RAOC and Berkshires......... but it was easier just to post the collection it in its entirety and intresting to see some regiments that no longer exist, and some badges like the Yeomanry ones I had never seen before.
These look to be from the period 1970-1993 ish. The Gren Guards is more likely to be modern - I think Sergeants and above wear brass badges to this day. It is rather an accumulation in that it is representative but not complete nor confined to a particular period. Nevertheless an attractive and interesting display .... sorry to hear about your cousin.
Cheers for the comments guys, and Andy I never labeled them :pI think he has made a few mistakes on some of them in the respect......what year were the RCOS changed to RS then?
There never has been a 'Royal Signals' mate. After seperating from the RE it was 'Corps of Signals' then a few weeks later they got the Royal Warrant and changed to 'Royal Corps of Signals'. I'm still working on finding out about the 'The' bit.
as a result of my Cousins, untimely death in January Sorry to hear about that. One of my cousins was very ill this last month , lucky he pulled though.
Very nice collection indeed Jason. Sorry it had to come to you this way mate. The Arty one is Queens Crown, so post 1953 Rob
Thanks to all those for their condolances and the comments on the collection, I will hasten to add that like many of my relatives Cousin Robert, was one I had never met but given this and his dying from Cancer in I think his 60's I consider it untimely for both those reasons, not to mention the drama that has unfolded since his death but that is another story.Back to the collection it is to me spooky that a Cousin I had never met had took the time to amass such a varied collection GIVEN MY INTREST IN SUCH THINGS! but my Mum believes he worked for the MOD, which may be how he aquired some..........although among the pictures retrieved from his house were those of a parade not many years ago by the RGBW Regiment, and as he lived in Newbury, I would gues it was local added to this were two pics of a SGT and it seems that my Cousin may well have known him as they were taken on thier own, and are of a different regiment maybe RA.....the pics are not of the best quality and im guessing on a few things here. But there is more to come in relation to another pic that I will post soon with the intent to work all your brain cells and cast you back to Hither Green, around the 30's -40's and a Regiment as yet unknown, all the best and thanks again for you input Jason.
Just a little add on to contents of my Cousins house, I was taliking to my Brother yesterday when I asked him what else was in the house......... and he came put with this little pearler "well there was a Sgt's Home Guard uniform!!!" I leave it to you to guess what my reply was
