Despite looking "everywhere", I've been unable to decode the meaning of a couple of unit codes in my grandad's service record. He was an armourer but I doubt that's relevant. I've highlighted the queries in red boxes in the image. So my question is what do they mean and where located? PC.S.B. (a) in 1927 H.E. in 1930 (apparently on his way back from China Station) Depot M.E. (is that an M, N or possibly H?) in 1930 Thanks...
HE Home Echelon/Home Establishment eg posted to UK Depot is RAF Depot (Uxbridge) Non Effective eg sick (a) is attached so not removed from establishment post from parent unit attached unit only responsible for messing and pay - usually a course. Need to have a think about PC.S.B. for an armourer in 1927 - under courses is there a course about this time or did he have a trade change under mustering? Thinking about either Photo related based on his posting before No.19 Squadron or failing that was he interviewed for Commission? Ross
Thanks a lot for your expertise, Ross. The suggestion is that he was returned from China/Hong Kong because he was sick, then do you think? It's interesting because the following is in the miscellaneous section: "Ex.O/S Leave 6-4-30 - 12-5-30" I didn't know what that meant but I assume it's sick leave, right? There's no change under Mustering, Qualifications or Promotions in 1927. He'd become an LAC the year before and always an armourer. Cheers... Mick
