    Why was he with this regiment? Any information would be appreciated.

    Need assistance on Who/Where/What/How for this man who is on the Australian Commemorative Roll which is for those "Australians" who died in other Allied Services. If proved not to be "Australian" their names will not be removed from the Commemorative Roll however their details will be updated accordingly.

    I have researched the Air Force members but there are many more Land and Sea deaths in a myriad of different forces.

    There is not a lot of information on these people that can be accessed easily and I ask your assistance to fill in at least some of the gaps.

    Hopefully some relatives may see this thread and add more.

    I will make a different thread for each along the way as they may tend to get lost if clumped together.

    CAMERON, MAXWELL FIELD / LANSELL, MARJORIE ANDERSON Maxwell Field Cameron was born in 1901 at or near Norseman, Dundas District, Western Australia State, the Commonwealth of Australia, son to Percy Field Cameron and Edith Victoria Naomi Hull; died on Active Service, World War II., 6 August 1943, whilst serving with the Federated Malay States Volunteer Force, in consequence of treatment received as a Prisoner of War during the infamous "Burma Road" or "Burmese Railway" incident, immortalised as "The Bridge on the River Kwai"; buried at Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, Kanchanaburi, Kanchanaburi Province, the Kingdom of Thailand.


    His wife Marjorie Anderson Lansell was born in or about 1903 or 1904 at Western Australia State, the Commonwealth of Australia, daughter to Francis Northcott "Frank" Lansell and Mary Ellen "Sis" Rickey, (to whom refer); died 10 October 1988 at Nedlands City, Western Australia State, the Commonwealth of Australia; buried in October 1988 at Karrakatta Cemetery, Karrakatta District, Nedlands City, Western Australia State, the Commonwealth of Australia. This couple begat issue: (1) Ian Field Cameron, who married Nola ---; (2) Mary Maxine Cameron, who married Michael John Igglesden.

    CAMERON M.F. [Maxwell Field] b.1901 Norseman, WA. Educated Scotch College, Claremont WA and Western Australian University. Surveyor for Lands Dept WA 1924-1928 then to Malaya 1928 as Surveyor-on-Agreement FMS NS. By 1940 Senior Surveyor, Johore, Survey Dept SS & FMS: JB and Pontian Districts. 2nd Lt 13923 FMSVF Field Survey Company. POW Singapore to Thailand 28.10.42. Wife Marjorie Anderson evacuated to Mt Lawley WA. He died in captivity 6.8.43[42] Kanyu River Camp, Thailand. Grave at Kanchanaburi.
