  1. William died in Roosendaal (30th British Field Dressing Station / hospital “Charitas”) on March 14 1945. He was killed in action or died of wounds. He is buried at the Catholic cemetery opposite of “Charitas” in Roosendaal.
He was a marine commando (RM Engineer)
    Any information is welcome.

    Dutch Polar Bear,

I have added his Service Number as an online search often uses that and people arrive here: PO/X 114389(T). From: CHIPPERFIELD, William Edward Adolphus | ͏

Prior to your post the name and number or his unit has not appeared here. His name appears in a parallel thread on the dressing station: 30th Field Dressing Station

    His unit was:
From: RM CDOS - Chipperfield, William Edward Adolphus

    A sentence on his unit:
From Post 8 in: SPECIAL SERVICE BRIGADE

It appears that the brigade was known as No. 4 Special Service Brigade (SSB). From Post 4 in the thread above. They were renamed as Commando Brigades at the end of 1944.

Oddly this Order of Battle (OOB) does not list 4 Engineer Commando with 4 Commando Brigade, but shows 1 Engineer Commando and as 'Elements from'. See: Special Service (Commando) Group, Brigade, and Brigade Signals | ͏

There is a wargaming site that refers to a RM Engineer Troop fulfilled "normal" engineering tasks and that they had flamethrowers.

He is on a local Surrey church war memorial. See: https://www.godstonebenefice.org.uk/stnicholaswarmemorial It may be a point on inquiry.

There is no readily found information that his family live in the village now.
