Remembering the 31 killed and 45 wounded British troops and the 76 killed and 52 wounded Indian troops during this action at the Siege of Imphal 7/4/1944.

(Please note that these figures are approximate as the Indian casualties are notoriously difficult to confirm.)

Hello Jessicah, looking at your other enquiry on this forum about 28 Jungle Fld Regt, I note that your grandfather was in 5 Battery. They were not involved with the action at Lion Box Kanglatongbi. It was 3 Bty that provided the mortar support for the box. 28 Jungle Fld Regt were, however, involved with the fighting along the main Imphal Kohima road afterwards. You can read all about Lion Box in my book 'Box of Lions' available now from Pen & Sword publishers.
