Occupational Classification

    My father who pre-war was an Apprentice Linotype Operator at a printing company is classified in his service record as TE 305/04.

    I am assuming that TE means "Technical' but would like this assumption confirmed or corrected.

    I would appreciate an explanation as to what 305/04 means.

    Thanks Tony. Some useful info but not unfortunately a direct answer to my query. As I am not in the UK I am unable to visit Kew.
