Overturned Sherman Firefly

Does anyone know more about the story that goes with these pictures.

 

52 ought to be 2 Fife and Forfar Yeomanry according to the order of precedence in Joslen's Orders of Battle (23 H - 2 FFY - 3 R Tks).

They seem to have been the first element of 11 Armd Div into action, supporting 15 Div at Cheux. That battle and the following EPSOM operation both involved local withdrawals which left vehicles in places that the Germans could get to. It's probably a job for the war diaries.

 

Interesting to see the recognition markings on both the top of the turret and the engine deck.

 

52 is 3rd Battalion Royal Tank Regiment.
