Am I right in thinking this came in at version G & so Panzer 2s with this feature were first used in combat 1941?

The G with it's interleaved wheels only came in mid 41 to early 42 Les, and then only knocked up in a batch of 12. (There were supposed to be 75 but it never happened).
The Munster F seems to get called a G in a few dodgy books I have - as that carries a box I wonder if some misdirection has crept in.

To be honest, going purely from Photographs (which admittedly prove little), that box on the back of a Pz.II turret is pretty uncommon. Maybe extemporised? I have a feeling it's seen mostly in desert shots (??).

You weren't thinking of the III were you?

The Profile for PzII notes that Ausf G & J had turret bins. The artwork also shows an Ausf F with one but haven't found a photo to back that up.

Not a contemporary shot, but this is Munster's F:

Captured in Libya, it's one of the APG vehicles that were farmed out on long term loan (this one in 1989) and restored to running order - seems unlikely that either museum would add the stowage box. Having a quick shufti to see what state it was in at APG, but nothing immediately to hand,
