Just been reading about Patrick Macnee The bowler hatted hero of The Avengers.
Just now appearing in the Bond film A View to a Kill on the telly.
Ex Eton , Ex Royal Navy in WW2.
What we used to call a bit of a character!

Spitfires of the Sea Stephen Fisher

He served on MTBs with 1st MTB Flotilla from 1943-45. At one point he probably served as First Lieutenant on MTB 416, which had been MGB 81 before she was re-commissioned, and is preserved in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. I would humbly recommend my book, although he only makes a fleeting appearance.

Sad that the Crews section is empty. Its many years (50) since I worked with a man who was twice sunk on an MTB out of Dover.
I think his name was Freddy King.
He was then posted to "the safest ship in the Navy" HMS Prince of Wales and picked up from the sea by a destroyer.
Despite all this he still had a sense of humour.
One of a group of people that I wlll never forget, although their names are fading fast.
