Hi all, In my town, Mol-Belgium, several artillery units where shooting at the bridgehead 'Gheel Ten-Aerd in september 1944. We found pictures from a certain 'Joe Ernst YOUNG- 145558871 ' who stayed here with at family for some days and had a watch-out in the local churchtower. These are some facts I found in his files, send by a familymember. - He should be a wireless operator. - on a driverstest (may 1944): Unit: B Tp 54 OBS BTY (B troop 54 Observers Battery??) - in a list I also found he was in the 7th Servey Rgt. (August 9th, '44). Who can learn me more about the regiments, groups (don't know much about the military structures) from the Royal Artillery that where here? Coult it be that they are a support unit from the 15th Scottish Infantery Division? All info about 'Moll and Gheel ' is more than welcome! Best regards, Wim Govers Mol-Belgium www.battleforthelocks.be
Hi Wim I would look to confirm his units 100% first. The best way to do this is get a copy of his service records from the Ministry of Defence.
Hi, A part of his file in attachement. For me is the date in August 44 the most important. As far I know, he was in the 7th survey Egt. This info I' ve hot nu a familymember: Disembarked North West Europe 25/26 june1944 7th Survey Regt. Posted to109 HAA Reg( heavy Artillery).3 Nov1945. Posted to 51 Heavy Regt 22 Feb 1946.
