    Uncle Target Mist over Dartmoor

    Madrassi Regt RA
It seems that he transferred to a Madrassi Regiment but there is no supporting paperwork for this
or his time in hospital which would have ensued with Malaria.
Medical records are subject to 100 years confidentiality so unlikely to be made available.

This thread explains a number of points in your current thread.
The Posting by Rothy explains in the text, some detail about the Madrassi and 3 AATC.

Uncle Target, It's just at the moment I'm waiting further treatment for an ongoing spinal condition and i can't sit very long in certain places( The PC) so it's very frustrating for me Please , please don't apologise i appreciate everyone's time and help! .
I am going over and over in my head the little snippets my Dad may have mentioned when i was a girl unfortunately any photos and my dads army pay book were lost when my parents both passed away in mid 1980's.
Thank you all for your expertise.

There was no such thing as the Madrassi Regt RA and you don't go on leave with malaria. I think you need to look at that line again.

I have gone as far as I can. I have been hoping for the assistance of someone with experience of the war in India/Burma.
The documents are posted at the beginning of the thread. #10 and #14.
They are not what I expected to see in a British Army Service Record.
Perhaps you might read through them and be of assistance to the lady who is making the enquiry.
After all we are all I believe here to help people when we can.

Thank you in anticipation of your knowledge and assistance.

Charpoy Chindit, apologies in my limited knowledge i thought the abbreviation on my Dads service record was MRRA could it be LRRA ?

I haven’t followed this topic closely but the LRRA acronym often means Lower Rate Ration Allowance - a daily meal allowance usually paid to men who were on leave away from free army catering.

Don't forget the excellent website: Royal Artillery in World War 2 - The Royal Artillery 1939-45 can help with each battery / regiment identified in the British Army.

Is it possible after a bout of malaria he was given a period of leave? A friend living in South Asia was confined to her home, but was not really fit enough for normal work for sometime afterwards.

    Yes, it is LRRA.
I can't see a reference to malaria; have I missed something?

No, I didn't miss that post - if you check the relevant scan you'll see that it is an error. LRRA not MRRA and no mention of malaria or the non-existant 'Madrassi Regt RA'.

At last the error has been found thanks to Jitter Party.
I must confess to missing it as I became confused flicking from downloads to the original thread so used the transcription in #10 as it seemed ok.
    All my fault.

I found the Madrassi Artillery on Wiki (see #22 10th Indian HAA It made clear what 3 AATC was. ) not the best of sources but I was trying to maintain the thread in view on
    New Posts
Waiting until someone more knowledgeable came along.

Perhaps I should leave these enquiries to others and not worry if they disappear, or never get resolved.

Time to go methinks but I inevitably drift back. Sad old Git!

“Granted leave from 28/11/42 to 11/12/1942 with LRRA”.
As the period of leave is over 72 hours LRRA denotes Leave Rate Ration Allowance.

Some definitions of the various Ration Allowances from Vade-Mecum on Administration, 125th OCTU RA, July 1941.
