Is that von Paulus himself being led off into captivity, d'yer reckon?

I doubt if Von Paulus walked into captivity. More than likely taken by car.
He was a Propoganda coup for the soviets, especially after being promoted to Field Marschal.

He was rather expected to commit suicide, but did not and thus became the first German Field marschal to be captured.

Adolf was not amused and distrusted all of his Generals after that.

Certainly is Paulus ( he never was von Paulus ) just after his surrender at the Univermag store in Central Stalingrad , together with General Artur Schmidt Chief of Staff of the 6th Armee.
